I would be remiss if I visited Monaco and didn’t do at least one post about the food! I’ve been talking about it a lot in my stories but wanted to make mention of it here too. Dreamboat and I have been eating predominantly at the Monte Carlo Beach Hotel and sister properties and my favorite meals so far have been at Elsa, the world’s only Michelin Starred 100% Organic Restaurant and lunch at Le Deck for their special Sunday buffet. Breakfasts have been pretty special too! 🥖 (But don’t worry, I didn’t break my healthy eating plan EXCEPT when we dined at Elsa! ) The food has been predominantly quite simple but it’s the produce that speaks volumes; everything is fresh, seasonal, organic and really delightful. The chef’s source all of their produce from no further than 100km away all all sustainably. I’m in love! @visitmonaco @montecarlosbm #MCGreenGlam #MyMonteCarlo

Good morning, or goodnight depending on where you are in the world. It’s 10:30 PM in Monaco and I’m just about off to bed. If you’ve been following my stories you’ll know that I’m currently in Monaco staying at the glorious Monte-Carlo beach hotel with Dreamboat. Unlike the rest of my European holiday I’m actually “working” right now, if you can call dining in Michelin Star restaurants and enjoying daily spa treatments “work”. Seriously, what is my life sometimes? I love tourism so much, I love that there are truly destinations and experiences out there for everyone. Monaco is exquisite. Every inch as polished, classy and beautiful as you would imagine having only seen it in the movies. Situated on France’s Mediterranean coastline, Monaco is an independent city state measuring just 2km by 2km. Despite its diminutive size Monaco packs a punch with incredible properties, food experiences, views, luxury and timeless service. I’ve only got three days in total to enjoy this place so I’m making every minute count! This is the view from the Sunshine Suite at the Monte Carlo Beach Hotel and down below is the Beach Club. Adorable or what? @visitmonaco @montecarlosbm #MCGreenGlam #MyMonteCarlo

A lot of you might recognize this shot, it’s my favorite photo that I’ve ever taken. Wild horses galloping across a wet field in the Kimberley. Five years ago when I was finishing up my career as a chef I never dreamed that I’d have the opportunity to create memories like this and I definitely didn’t think I’d have the opportunity to create a movement that’s helping people all over the world master their cameras. Writing an online course was an incredible amount of work and there were a lot of times when I wanted to back out. I already have a successful career doing exactly what I love. But, to be honest it was you guys that pushed me to do this. All of the conversations I’ve had with people that are so frustrated with learning. If I didn’t truly know my settings inside and out I would have never been able to achieve this image. In a split second I needed to adjust my ISO to enable a faster shutter speed and make sure my depth of field was adequate for the formation of horses. Settings should be that easy, a split second consideration so that you can get the shot in time. Anyway, this is the last I’ll tell you about the course this week, I’m in Europe! It’s time to share some travel with you! ️ Oh, and link in bio for course if you haven’t checked it out yet. ️ .

More shells! See, I told you I went back to basics when I was making my online course. (In case you’ve been hiding under a rock link in bio @laurenepbath ‍️) I was shooting these shells on the beach to effectively demonstrate depth of field. The depth of field of a shot is how much of the shot is in focus and this is controlled by your aperture setting. Aperture is my favorite technical aspect of photography and I dedicate a whole module to it in my course, module 5! If you’ve ever seen a photo with a lovely blurred background, that’s depth of field at play. The cool thing about my course (at least in my opinion ) is that I’m not trying to teach people to be world class photographers. The creative side is up to you. Instead I’m teaching the basics, basics that are generally assumed knowledge in most photography courses. This weekend I’ve spoken to so many people who have done courses in the past and been frustrated! One woman spent a whole day hearing about f- stops without a definition (in a beginners photography course), one guy just DM’ed me and said it’s the best course on the market and a friend of mine is studying photography at university and she said that photography is assumed knowledge in a photography degree. WTF! I want everyone who buys the course to become so proficient at their camera settings that it’s second nature and all their energy can go into creating. ️ PS. A new story is going up today with a free mini tutorial. .

Haha, how gangsta is this squad?! This is another shot I took on the Gold Coast last year when I was out filming my online photography course. (Get Camera Confident > link in bio > @laurenepbath ) I have a very special affinity with the Gold Coast because it was these beaches that saw me learn photography from the ground up. I remember when I first got my camera and I was shooting in AUTO mode thinking it’s not ideal but at least it will be a higher quality shot than I’d take on my phone. Um, no. Never give your camera creative license to that extent, it’s not a person and doesn’t make people decisions. Even shooting in a semi automatic mode and doing small things like controlling your focus point (choosing where to focus rather than relying on the cameras choice) and knowing the basics of which shutter speed you’ll need will go a long way! My course is great because it starts slowly, doesn’t teach you any BS you don’t need to know and can get you shooting in manual and confidently choosing your settings within a couple of weeks. From zero to a hundred. But if you want to go slower there’s lots of levels to rest on until you’re ready to take the next step. I’m so proud to bring it to you. I’m also dying to hear what people think of the sales video??? Who watched it? .

Welllllll, so many of you checked out or bought my photography course in the first 48 hours that the site crashed and there were a million bugs. I mean, if there’s a problem to have I’d rather it be this one but I’m so sorry to everyone that had an issue. The team doing the back end have been hard at work getting it all fixed up and it should be fine now! We’ll make sure we extend the special price for a few extra days to make up for it. So, my course? Well you can watch the sales video via the link in my bio @laurenepbath but basically the point of it is to teach absolute beginners all the basics of nailing camera settings so that they have the confidence to shoot anything and everything. Literally from the day you finish this course you will have the knowledge to shoot in full manual mode and understand each exposure decision you have to make. Eventually this will become second nature. I’ve split the content up into 16 modules that you can watch at your own pace and they’re filled with relatable learning stories (my own, ) and challenges to help you confidently handle your camera. We’ll also soon be setting up our “Hot Shots” FB community so you’ll have access to me 24/7 to help you achieve your photography goals. (Realistically that’s 16/7 as I do sleep 8 hours a day. It’s my thing. ) .

Wow! It’s not every day that I’m so overwhelmed and humbled by the support of my Instagram friends but I woke up today to a sea of DM’s, comments, Facebook messages and orders for my online photography course. ( @laurenepbath > link in bio ) It’s been so long since I produced this that I’d almost forgotten my main motivation for bringing it to the world, sometimes these things can get lost with the stress of day to day life. I made this to help people gain confidence with their cameras. I talk to people every single day who have a camera somewhere at home that they’re too afraid to use and I seriously feel that pain. I can remember in great detail exactly how I felt when I brought my first camera home. So my course was written by me *from scratch* to help you get confident with your camera quickly. Each module is progressive right up until you’re shooting in full manual mode within a couple of weeks. I can help you to become a technically perfect photographer, giving you the freedom to have fun with your camera and enjoy experimenting with composition instead of stressing about settings. And you can do this course with literally any digital camera that shoots in manual! Canon, Nikon, Olympus (like me), even compacts as long as they have manual capabilities. Click the link in my bio to learn more and watch my hilarious sales video . And yeah, I jumped the gun and posted this shot too early last year but I actually photographed this scene when I was filming the course on the Gold Coast. Lol. An incredible sunrise like this always makes me feel like I’m on the right path in life, it was a sign that my online course was a good idea. I’m going to do a big instagram story later today too! (With the behind the scenes stuff from filming the course. )

Who remembers my old Instagram feed? The glory days of learning photography and shooting sunrises, seagulls, shells and coastal delights! Well I’m really excited to announce that my first ever online course is now live and it’s a photography course that hails back to those times. I can still remember asking questions on Instagram and then taking my camera out for experiments, often disasters. I’ve always believed that in order to take the best photos you have to truly nail the basics first, as in understand exactly how your camera works, and the settings, so that you can use your energy composing the shots instead of worrying if it will even turn out at all. I wrote this course because I’m always asked by people if I can teach them photography but I so rarely have the time. So instead I took months out of my life to do this. Anyway, it’s LIVE! At last. It’s affordable and covers everything! It was filmed on the Gold Coast and I’m so proud of making this thing. The link will be up in my bio all month and you can also find it on my website. It’s called “Get Camera Confident”. .

“I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping planes, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains.” Dorothea Mackeller. These words, from such an iconic Australian poem, always resonate with me. There’s something magical and restorative about being in the outback and the Flinders Ranges are so unique in their proximity to Adelaide and wealth of tourism experiences. I’ll be putting together a final Instagram story today with all my highlights and I hope that many of you consider visiting this place in your lifetime. I love the golden colors of our Australian Outback and especially the views from the Chace Range in the Flinders. This was sunset from my heliswag experience. For those that missed my heliswag story it’s basically a night camping in the bush but you get dropped off and collected by helicopter so you’re literally in the middle of nowhere. It’s also kind of glam as the helicopter pilot sets up your swags and leaves gourmet food with you from the Woolshed Restaurant. Rawnsley Park Station, where I stayed, is only 5 hours drive from Adelaide so anyone visiting South Australia should really make the effort. @southaustralia #seesouthaustralia .

There’s a simplicity to these hills, a serenity. It’s quiet out here. The Flinders Ranges were formed as a result of a massive meteorite strike 600 million years ago. Billions of tones of debris were scattered, buried by further sediment and then folded and uplifted during the formation of the Ranges. I wish I had more time so I could check out the strike site at Lake Acraman. There’s so much cool history out here. This was my view from high on the Chase Range during my heliswag experience. Yep, this was the helicopter flying away after dropping us off. Also, if you didn’t see it, check out my last post of the best sunrise I may have ever seen. I posted it at a weird time and I don’t think many of you got it in your feed. It’s my fave. @southaustralia #seesouthaustralia .
